OK, this has absolutely nothing to do with meat. Other than the fact that there is a random steak floating throughout the entire video.

Posted by Angus on 08/26/2008 (1859 reads)
Whatever!

We were sitting around the other night doing what we do every night, drinking rum and talking about meat, when an interesting question came up. We were trying to decide what would be considered the ULTIMATE MEATATARIAN MEAT. Would it be a giant T-Bone or maybe a a thick, juicy burger? Maybe a Rib Eye or even a whole chicken? We came up with what we think is the meat of meats now we want to know what you think! Let us know what YOUR ultimate meat is and why. Heck, you may even win a prize!

We'll post our ULTIMATE meat and pick a winner by the end of the month.

As always...keep it clean and all decisions are final.

Meat Facts...
on 08/26/2008 (1629 reads)

Did ya know that beef is the most consumed source of protein in America? Team meat is still in the lead!

Here are some other meat facts for the day courtesy of Scooter Bay:

  • A 1,000 pound Angus steer yields 465 pounds of retail beef cuts from a 600-pound carcass: 25% are steaks, 25% are roasts, 25% is burger and ground beef, 25% is lost due to fat, bone and shrinkage.
  • The beef you buy today is 27% leaner than it was 20 years ago.
  • You would have to consume five 8 oz. glasses of milk and three 4 oz. cans of tuna to get the same amount of zinc found in 3 oz. of beef.

Medieval Meat!
on 08/26/2008 (1605 reads)

Ever wonder what people ate in the Middle Ages? Well, so did I, so I looked it up.... (Plus now I'm one post closer to a free Meat-shirt!)

In the Middle Ages, the nobles and wealthy royalty got to eat the good stuff. But there were a range of meats available including venison, beef, pork, veal, goat, lamb, rabbit, hare, mutton, swans, herons and poultry.

The more exotic game birds included thrushes, starlings, blackbirds, quail, cuckoo, lark and peacocks.

Sounds delicious, no?

Llama Ben Ein Berlinner!
Posted by dirtykalb on 08/25/2008 (1610 reads)

Llama - the other dark meat. After you get done ridin' your llama, be sure to head on over to Bob's butchering center. As guests of Jersey Bob's Llama Ranch, you'll be able to tour the entire slaughtering area. First, you'll want to check out the kill floor. You can watch Bob's employees stun, skin, and de-bone entire herds of llamas. Of course, the llamas feel no pain thanks to Bob's hi-tech machinery.

Say It Ain't So... PETA Is NOT "Root of All Evil"?
Posted by Angus on 08/21/2008 (1616 reads)
Whatever!

Let me start by saying that Lewis Black is one of my favorite comics. I've seen him live and am going to see him again next month. That is why it pains me to say that his ruling was COMPLETELY WRONG last night on "Root of All Evil"! Paul F. Tompkins argued masterfully in his prosecution of PETA and CLEARLY proved that PETA, not the NRA, was and is the root of all evil. His "ripple of evil" parody of "Planet of the Apes" was brilliant! It was close and the audience clearly felt that PETA was definitely more evil than the NRA. But in the end, Mr. Black overruled the majority and proclaimed the NRA to be the root of all evil. Needless to say, I was disappointed. It was still a great show and I am still going to see Lewis. Maybe I'll get a chance to argue my side and bring him around.

You can watch the arguments here. You decide for yourself.

12% of the Total U.S. Food Spending Goes to... MEAT, POULTRY and FISH!
on 08/21/2008 (1627 reads)

U.S. Food Prices to Post Biggest Rise Since '90: USDA.

"In its latest food prices report, USDA said the increase for 2008 was due partly to higher costs for meat, poultry and fish, which make up about 12 percent of total food spending. Overall, costs for these items are forecast to rise 3 percent compared to 2.5 percent estimated last month."

Expensive or not, the Meatatarian Army is still gonna eat the meaty goodness!

nra vs. petaWe here at CAD are always on the look out for educational tidbits that we can pass on to our loyal users. We would be remiss if we didn't remind all of you to watch, one of our favorite shows, Lewis Black's "The Root of All Evil" on Comedy Central. This weeks episode should be a doosie! It pits the NRA against PETA. We don't know which one is worse, but it should be a lot of fun to watch! Check it out Wednesday at 10:30p/9:30 central!

Check out a preview here.
