Some Kind of Wonderful

Dakota's DallasSo, our fearless leader got himself a nifty new HTML editor on the article generator. Since its such a nice and useful tool, I present you with the latent bifurcated and somewhat narcissistic Meat Quest destination # 5(ish):

Let me be clear on this, typically and in the future I will not send you to fancy schmancy steak restaurants because, well I have to assume that like me you are too broke or cheap to drop 200 bucks for some meat. But if you live in Dallas, or you like spendin' loot to get with stuffy chicks from the nearby sorority, this place is for you. It's also got a VERY tasty meat selection and some smooth scotch to wash it all down. mmmmmmmmmmmm

About:
Dakota's was established in 1984 and has been a downtown Dallas dining icon for over 20 years. Dakota's unique underground location has an interesting story behind it. It is located one level below street level on a section of real estate that was once occupied by the First Dallas Baptist church. There is a legally binding clause in the deed that prohibits any future owner from selling alcohol on former church grounds. Because "on the grounds" and "below ground" are two different terms, and because Lincoln Property Company wanted a restaurant to anchor their international headquarters, land was excavated and the restaurant was placed 18 feet below street grade.

Check it out here.

OMG WTF STFU ROTFL IGGUS

It's been a really really long time since dinosaurs roamed the land. So it can't have been that long since I wrote an article.

Today's meat filled destination is FatBurger. They are all over the U.S. but the one I visited was in sunny California, which was about February ago but what the hell.

Overall, the Fat Burger is really a great fast food joint with a Fifties kinda vibe and lots of posters about converting vegeZombies back into people with blood and motor skills...

So here's a five burger salute to Fat Burger. Good Food.

Today's Meat-Stination: Anger Management

This week, we take you to a Chicago favorite, a place where rather than "Would you like an apple pie with that?" you'll catch: "Cheezborger! Cheezborger! No fries, cheeps! No Pepsi, Coke!"

The Billy Goat Tavern, Chicago Illinois

The original Billy Goat Tavern location was "born" in 1934 when Greek immigrant, William "Billy Goat" Sianis, purchased the Lincoln Tavern. Billy Goat bought the tavern for $205, with a check that bounced but was later repaid with sales from the first weekend. The tavern was located across from the Chicago Stadium (now United Center) and attracted mainly sports fans. Sianis became known as "Billy Goat," when a goat fell off a passing truck and wandered inside. Sianis adopted the goat, grew a goatee, acquired the nickname "Billy Goat," and changed the name of the bar to the Billy Goat Tavern.

The Meat Quest Continues With a California Original....
Posted by dirtykalb on 01/21/2009 (2947 reads)

In 1948, the first In-N-Out Burger was founded by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park. Harry's idea of a drive-thru hamburger stand where customers could order through a two-way speaker box was quite unique. In that era, it was common to see carhops serving those who wanted to order food from their car. Harry's idea caught on and California's first drive-thru hamburger stand was born.

Heart Attacks Abound at this Meat Quest Destination
Posted by dirtykalb on 01/09/2009 (18027 reads)

Welcome to Meat Quest

Meat Quest is a relatively regular (no fiber here) smattering of Meat-Places to take the family on that all too forgotten Road Trip.
So, without further ado...

We Present: The Heart Attack Grill
The Heart Attack GrillThe Heart Attack Grill® is a hospital themed restaurant in Chandler Arizona, which has become internationally famous for embracing and promoting an unhealthy diet of incredibly large hamburgers. Customers are referred to as "patients," orders as "prescriptions," and the waitresses as "nurses."

The website could use some work, but The Heart Attack Grill deserves its spot atop the list of Meat Quest Destinations for 2009.

THE ARTISANAL HAMS OF SPAIN THE ARTISANAL HAMS OF SPAIN
Picture paper-thin strips of dark red ham like petals ringing a hand painted plate. Imagine big honest hams curing in the mountain air. Picture individual hams resting on stands in family kitchens throughout Spain with a long slim knife at hand for any and all to slice a treat.
